Stacey Jane Rigsbee-Boucher

May 12, 1956 -

Sep 29, 2024

Stacey Jane Rigsbee-Boucher was born on May 12, 1956, and lived a full and wonderful life until she passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024.

Our dear Stacey was born to James and Alberta Rigsbee, who were original homesteaders of Anchorage, Alaska. Stacey owned a sled dog team and lived in a tepee in her 20s; she was known for her easy-going nature and groovy style. She and her sister Melaney grew up in an original historic home in Anchorage until they married and moved away. She survived the 1964 earthquake, and her stories of those events along with her wild adventures with her friend Claire were iconic.

In summer 2024, Stacey attended her 50th West High School class reunion, she was so happy to see her friends and teachers. Having been voted best dressed for her vintage outfits and great taste in high school, she looked radiant at her reunion!

While at West she was a member of the very prestigious Turkey Tribe - if you know, you know.

Stacey married one time, although she was later divorced, and she had two sons, Phillipe and Sean Boucher. She was very proud of her boys and raised them, as a single mother, to be gentlemen with a southern charm like her father. In addition to her sons, she was very involved in her stepson Craig "Bodie" Boucher's life and ensured that all three boys grew up loving each other and united as family. She was very proud of the life that all three of "her boys" created.

When she was young, Stacey and her friend Carol ran a cafe tire shop with their partners in Coldfoot, Alaska, during the pipeline frenzy. She picked up many entrepreneur skills from her father and that experience. She ran her own house cleaning business for many years and established quite the client list. She worked at the Coast International Inn and had regulars that she was very fond of. During her tenure there, the Make-a-Wish Foundation would house children that wanted to visit Alaska there. Stacey would find out what the child's interests were and would use her own money to ensure that the visit was memorable by decorating the room with many fun Alaska trinkets, stuffed animals, toys, candy and much more! Her passion to make those stays memorable was truly a sight to behold.

Stacey loved working for the Coast until she retired early in 2019, to stay home and take care of her youngest grandson. Together they held puppet theaters and grew the most beautiful garden.

Stacey was an angel; she would give everyone she met an angel pin for protection. Her garden was never short of gnomes, fairies and silly planters. She was the matriarch for her family and made sure that all the children had fond memories and traditions, such as building fairy houses in the summer, entering their art projects at the fair, making gingerbread houses out of graham crackers for Christmas and so many more! After spending so much time with her family, she relaxed by listening to country music and spending her days enjoying a meal and great deserts with her friend Myrna.

Even with all the love she had to give, she is known for her one true and greatest love, her best friend, Olivia "Nan" Mucha. Their friendship is one for the books, they raised their children as best friends living next door to each other in Spenard for over 30 years.

Stacey is preceded in death by her parents, James and Alberta Rigsbee; and sister, Melaney Rogers. She is survived by her sons, Phillipe and Sean Boucher; and her grandchildren.

She would love flowers sent to her service at Coast International Inn on Nov. 17, 2024, or a donation on her behalf to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Services are at the Coast Inn at Lake Hood, 3450 Aviation Drive in Anchorage, on Nov. 17, 2024, from 1-4 p.m. Please come and share your memories of Stacey.
