Halina Zofia Krzeczkowska Seeberger

Sep 4, 2024

Halina Zofia Krzeczkowska Seeberger, 77, of Anchorage, Alaska, passed away peacefully on Sept. 4, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was determined to avoid another cold winter in Alaska.

Halina was born on Jan. 23, 1947, in Coburg, Germany, to Polish parents, Zdzislaw and Irena Krzeczkowski. Her family immigrated to Australia when she was young, and she loved the heat. Halina was raised in Maitland, New South Wales, and later moved to Sydney after finishing business school. While living there she met and fell in love with James Seeberger, an American GI visiting Australia on R & R from Vietnam.

Halina joined Jim in the States in 1971. They were married in Glendive, Mont., on April 20, 1972. Together they spent the next 52 years in mostly wedded bliss, raising four exceptional children. Well matched and strong willed, Jim and Halina brought up their family in Montana, Minnesota, Australia, Kentucky and ultimately settled in Anchorage. Halina was always cold and compensated for the lack of warmth by layering abundantly. Always stylish, she put fashion ahead of function even in the winter, much to the chagrin of her husband.

Halina's charm, wit and clever Aussie humor were her hallmarks. She loved to laugh, and she could talk her way out of anything. She had no qualms about sharing her opinions or bending rules. Halina enjoyed upbeat music, winning Farkle and traveling, especially to Europe. She loved watching true crime dramas even though they gave her nightmares. A talented crafter and knitter, she made many beautiful items. Halina always had at least one cat to keep her warm. A talented and effusive writer, she loved corresponding with family - her cards and letters were legendary, her penmanship extraordinary. Halina cared for her family, showing her love with delicious, creative meals and feisty conversation. Passionate about politics, her family knows she would regret not being able to vote in the presidential election.

Halina was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Krystyna; cousin, Zdzistawa; and beloved son, Aaron.

Halina is survived by her loving and tolerant husband, James Seeberger. Her children, Michelle (John) Larroque, Alexander (Sara Boelman) Seeberger and Sabina (Matthew) Green, will miss her greatly. Her grandchildren, Aveline and Lucia Larroque, Erin and James Seeberger, and Lucas and Brielle Green, will miss their truly one-of-a-kind Nana. Halina is also survived by her extended Polish family and Jim's siblings and their families, with whom she shared a close bond and much laughter.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Benedict's Catholic Church on Nov. 29, 2024, at 11 a.m., with a reception to follow.
