Robert "Bob" "Macadoo" McKay, 74 of Anchorage, Alaska, passed away peacefully on Nov. 12, 2024, surrounded by family at Alaska Regional Hospital. A man of profound spirituality and deep kindness, Bob lived a life rooted in love, freedom, and the ability to embrace life's challenges with grace and acceptance.

Born Jan. 26, 1950 to John and Loretta McKay in Great Falls, Mont., Bob was resourceful and hardworking, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Bob connected with others through his genuine warmth and empathy, whether by offering a kind word, engaging in a heartfelt conversation, or giving a much-needed hug. He listened not just with his ears but with his heart.

Bob's spiritual journey defined him. He approached life with surrender and openness, sharing wisdom and support with those around him. A steady and compassionate presence, Bob brought comfort and care, leaving an enduring impact on the lives he touched.

Living a life of recovery, Bob's journey exemplified the strength found in surrender, the peace of acceptance, and the freedom that comes from living with love. His memory will continue to inspire those who knew him to lead lives of kindness, humility, and connection.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his son, Jason, who carries forward his father's resilience; his brother, Mic McKay and sisters, Mary Jane Kruse and Susan Townsend; grandchildren, Keith Washington and Jentel Washington.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer, her memory was a cherished part of his life; his parents, John and Loretta McKay; nephew, Jeremy Smith; niece, Kelia Kruse.

A pot luck celebrating Bob's life will be held at the Viking Hall, 8141 Briarwood Street, Saturday Nov. 30 2 to 6 p.m. Bring a dish or dessert, and a good story.

Donations to a local animal shelter, a recovery organization, or a charity of your choice in honor of Bob's generous and compassionate spirit are welcome.
