Dec 2, 2024
Richard "Dick" Eugene Noble died peacefully in his home on Dec. 2, 2024, in Anchorage, Alaska. He was born on July 22, 1936, in Deer River, Minn., to Harland and Lois (Tomlin) Noble.
Dick served briefly in the U.S. Army in California. There he joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dick served in the church in many ways for the rest of his life, his favorite roles being genealogist, home teacher, choir member and bishop.
After the army, Dick attended Brigham Young University where he met the love of his life, Shirleen Hendrix. They met waiting in a long line when Dick said, "for a quarter, I'd leave right now." Shirleen held up a quarter, and said, "I've got one, let's go!" Dick and Shirleen were married in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple on Aug. 14, 1963.
Dick loved adventure and the great outdoors, so they moved to Anchorage, and raised four children. Dick sold houses, subdivided land, mined for gold and loved living in Alaska.
Dick was generous, his laugh infectious, and he was always smiling. He helped strangers and friends alike and loved his kids and grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ray; and sister, Marilyn Schultz.
Dick leaves behind his wife, Shirleen; children, David, Valerie Owens (Dan), Nephi (Krista Kirk) and Jared (Johanna Govaars); grandchildren, Marina, Patrick, Morgan (Ashley Marley), Jessica (Braden VanAusdal), Jason, Emily, Tabitha (Josh Snyder), Hannah and Abish; and great-grandson, Richard (Jessica)
Moroni 2:17 "... when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God."
Funeral services will be held on Dec. 28, 2024, at 12 p.m., at the LDS chapel on 2501 Maplewood Street in Anchorage. Due to family allergies, please no flowers.
