Robert Ourso, Bob to those lucky enough to know him, peacefully passed away in his home on Dec. 10, 2024, at the age of 64. Loving husband of 37 years to Becky Ourso and father of Jack and Nicole V. Ourso, he was a man of such wonderful variety and depth of character that these words have been written and rewritten, and still only begin to reflect his impact.

With a whipcrack of wit and a heart so large his children have formative memories of learning to change tires to help a stranger on the side of the road, Bob's friends and family stretch from coast to coast. Son of Martha and James Robert Ourso, of Baton Rouge, he and his siblings Chad Ourso and Allison Brigham were raised in south Louisiana. His hard work through the years earned him a master's degree and a wealth of knowledge that he could not help but share. His time as a machinist taught him the way around any old-school mechanical problem; as a pastry chef, he learned patience and to share the beauty of a round molecule – especially in the form of cheesecakes; his career as a musician lead to raucous stories, only some of which he shared while others he kept with a laugh close to his chest. His lifelong love of nature carried him from the woods of his classic coming-of-age adventures as a child, to toting his own children on his back along Texan creeks and on towards realizing his dream of living, and enjoying, the wilds of Alaska – where he used all he'd learned to maintain the health of our rivers as part of the U.S. Geological Survey.

Bob's family welcomes you to share memories of him and attend his funeral service on Jan. 4, 2025, at 11 a.m., at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church; and if you wish, to consider for a moment what he was known to consider: with life sometimes short and health of occasional debate, live now, live kindly, live with a desire to learn ... and live sharing stories that may result in a loving groan but always unforgettable memories of a triumphant, goofy grin.
