Kristine Bredehoft

Jan 22, 1951 -

Dec 25, 2024

Kristine Bredehoft passed away on the morning of Dec. 25, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.

Kristine was born in 1951 to parents Lavone and Bill in Hermosa Beach, Calif. The family moved to nearby Playa del Rey, where she attended Loyola Village and Paseo del Rey elementary schools, Orville Wright Junior High, and graduated from Westchester High School in winter 1969. Kriss attended Santa Monica Community College for a few semesters before joining her sister Vonjia and friend Patty on a European adventure in a 1972 VW van.

In 1973, Kriss and Vonjia traveled to Anchorage, to care for the Sholton children, and met her future husband Mike "Red Dog" Redmon, who was a pilot for Bobby Sholton. The next year, Kriss and Red Dog were married and welcomed their daughter Ann Wenona. Kriss lived in Anchorage for the remainder of her life.

Kriss followed her parents' love for aviation and became a flight attendant for Great Northern Airlines. Following Great Northern she worked at Wien Air Alaska, eventually obtaining her dispatcher's license. When Wien shut its doors, she moved on to Reeve Aleutian Airways. After RAA she was at GCI for a time then transitioned to Northern Air Cargo. Her final dispatching gig was for Shared Services at Conoco Phillips. Throughout much of her airline career she also worked a second job training the next generation of aircraft dispatchers, mostly through Career Academy.

While the airline industry was the center of Kriss' life, it was not the whole of her life. Her family, her friends and her art fed her soul. She was proud to show her artwork at local galleries when the opportunity arose.

Kriss left a lasting impact on those around her. She always had an open heart and an open door. Her daughter's friends were adopted into the Rainbow House family and often called her mom. This description was one of the most important to her.

She is survived by her sister, Vonjia; niece, Nerissa and husband Morgan; brother, George and wife Tanya; daughter, Ann Wenona; grandson, Zephyr; and grandchild, Ezra with partner Autumn and son Justin.

Rather than a funeral or memorial, Kriss asked for a farewell party to be held in her honor at the Rainbow House. Her wish will be fulfilled on Feb. 8, 2025. The family can be contacted for details.
