Jean A. Bartels, a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Dec. 17, 2024. Born on March 27, 1936, Jean led a life filled with love, adventure and dedication.

In 1970, Jean made the bold move to Alaska, where she would build a life and legacy that would touch the hearts of many. She was known for her work driving a pilot car service to and from the North Slope, a testament to her adventurous spirit and unwavering commitment to her work.

Jean is survived by her loving children: three daughters, Lene Phebus, Lynn Corbeil and Deanne Wertz, and one son, Joel Sigman. Her legacy extends further to her cherished nine grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren, who will always remember her warmth, wisdom and the stories she loved to share about her life's journey.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Cindy Sigman; and husband, Carl Bartels who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms.

Jean's life was a testament to resilience and dedication, and her memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her.
