Kameron Hartvigson

Feb 7, 2025

Kameron John Hartvigson, 41, his life was tragically cut short in a plane crash while traveling from Unalakleet to Nome, serving the people of Alaska. His loss is felt deeply across the state.

He was a man who lived life with passion, purpose, and an unshakable love for his two boys: Gavin (16) and Kale (14). A descendant of a proud Native heritage, he was born and raised in Alaska, the second born but first born son of five siblings. He is survived by his two sons, his greatest pride and joy; along with four siblings, Tammy, Ryan, Derek and Oliver; and many nieces and nephews; parents, John (Susie) Hartvigson and Carol (John) East; and paternal grandmother, Eva (Scottie) Hartvigson.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, C. Lavern Hartvigson; maternal grandparents, Clair and Shirley Crosby; and uncle, Clair Crosby II.

His work as a Utility Operator Specialist at ANTHC allowed him to serve rural Alaska in a way that truly mattered. He was a vital part of Alaska's rural energy and tribal support teams, always willing to go the extra mile to help others. His dedication to improving lives left a lasting impact on the communities he worked with.

Kameron's life revolved around his sons. Every choice he made, every sacrifice and every plan was with them in mind. He didn't just provide for them; he poured himself into them - teaching them how to hunt, fish, explore and embrace adventure. Some of their annual traditions included hunting in Denali, hooligan fishing and attending Fur Rondy fur auctions together. Kameron fully embraced his Native heritage, weaving its traditions and values into the lives of his sons. He wanted them to experience life to the fullest, just as he did.

To know Kameron was to love him. He was unapologetically himself - bold, hilarious and full of energy. His laugh was infectious, and when it came to dancing, his moves were as bold as his words - especially when Michael Jackson was playing. You never had to guess what he was thinking because he would let you know - appropriate or not - that was just who he was. He had passion for food and all that knew him know that he didn't just eat - he experienced every bite.

Everything he put his hands on reflected his attention to detail and craftsmanship. In addition, he had an unforgettable way of making sure everyone around him felt included and important. He loved his friends and cherished moments with them. Always up for a laugh, he never passed on a silly bet. No matter the time or distance, he could pick up right where they left off. His friendships were effortless, filled with jokes, stories and genuine joy.

Kameron knew Jesus, and with that knowledge comes peace - we will see him again. Until then, we will honor him, cherish his memory and celebrate his life every single day.

Though his absence is profound, his legacy endures. His sons will carry forward his love, his passion and his strength.
