Arnold "Ole" Olsen, passed away peacefully on Nov. 4, 2024, at the age of 77, after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Known to all as "Ole," his kindness, humor and selfless spirit left an indelible mark on those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Born in Afognak, Alaska, to Hans and Gladys Olsen, Ole grew up surrounded by the rugged beauty of his homeland. From an early age, he developed a deep love for his community and carried that passion throughout his life.
Ole was a devoted husband, father, sibling and friend. He found joy in flying, fishing and being active in the Native Community, which led to many amazing career opportunities throughout his life. He dedicated his time and energy to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others, especially within the Native Communities.
Ole is survived by his loving wife, Judy Olsen; daughters, Brittan and Siiri; and grandsons, Bennett, Preston, Soren and Liam. His legacy of love, strength and dedication will live on through them and through the countless lives he touched. He is also survived by his siblings: Marius (Andrea) Olsen, Arthur (Carol) Olsen, Rodney (Nancy) Olsen and his beloved sister Lucille. Preceded in death were brothers, Thorvold (Constance) Olsen, Hans (Tina) Olsen and Leland "Skip" (Cherrie) Olsen; and brother-in-law, Jim Allen (Lucille Olsen).
A celebration of Arnold's life will be held on June 28, 2025 at the Event Room of Afognak Native Corporation on Kodiak, where family and friends are invited to gather in his honor. His memory will forever be cherished, and his impact will never be forgotten.
