Anchorage, Alaska, resident Clara (Susook) Henderson passed peacefully on Jan. 24, 2025. Clara was born on Jan. 2, 1943, in Candle, Alaska. Mount Edgecumbe is where Clara attended and graduated high school.
Clara loved her family dearly, and was often creating beautiful needle work to gift to her loved ones. She loved to cook meals and bake for her family as well. Clara stayed young at heart and always found ways to make everyone smile with her witty sense of humor. She was often found gaming on a Nintendo of some sort, which spanned several generations. She provided a haven of unconditional love, and gave those who were blessed by her love a strong sense of belonging and a deep sense of ease. Spending time with her made everything feel like it was all going to be alright.
Clara is survived by her son, Larry Henderson Jr.; granddaughter, Jade Henderson-Miu; sister, Elsie McKinney; nephews, Eric, Chris, Stewart, Mike and Derek; nieces, Donna Stowell, Jonelle and Mariah; nieces-in-law, Lanie and Jenna; and her many great-nieces and great-nephews, whom she all loved dearly.
Clara is preceded in death by her parents, Letty and Tony Susook Sr.; former husband, Larry Henderson Sr.; sisters, Rhoda Fox, Irene Stowell, Mabel; brother, Tony Susook Jr.; beloved daughter, Tina Henderson; and grandson, Devin Courtland.
The Celebration of Life is scheduled for Friday, April 18, 2025, from 5-8 p.m., at the Megan Room, 6591 A Street in Anchorage. Please bring a dish to share.
