Kathryn Lea Johnson

Sep 10, 1955 -

Dec 2, 2024

Kathryn Lea Johnson, known to her family and friends as Kathi, took her first breath in Heaven on Dec. 2, 2024. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and the real estate community she loved. Kathi's kind heart, sharp wit and unwavering spirit touched the lives of everyone she encountered.

Born in Bossier City, La., on Barksdale Air Force Base to Donald and Yvonne Charleson, Kathi was the second oldest of four siblings. She spent her early years in Kent, Wash., where she was surrounded by family, including her cherished cousins, aunts and uncles. One of her fondest memories was spending time with her grandma Charleson at her diner, where Kathi learned the art of baking and cooking, skills she perfected throughout her life. Kathi was known for being a fabulous baker and cook, always willing to share her delicious creations with others.

The family later moved to Billings, Mont., where Kathi attended Catholic school. A natural worker, she was the first girl with a paper route, which she took on to pay her own tuition at private school. After graduating from high school in Billings, Kathi was invited to spend a summer in Alaska. Embracing her adventurous spirit, she hopped on a plane and, as they say, the rest was history.

Kathi met her husband Greg in 1984, and the two had three beautiful children who they raised in Anchorage. They spent their weekends skiing in Girdwood, camping and entertaining friends for dinner.

Kathi's boundless energy and competitive drive were keys to her success in both life and career. She was the top salesperson and the only female salesperson among 50 states at Wang Laboratories. She later transitioned into a successful career in real estate, where she was named Rookie of the Year in her first year and continued to win awards for her achievements year after year. Her clients, coworkers and all who knew her admired her professionalism, dedication and passion.

Kathi's true calling, however, was serving others. She was a mentor, a guiding light and a source of love and inspiration for all who had the privilege of crossing her path. Her legacy of kindness, mentorship and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

She is survived by her beloved husband, children, siblings and numerous extended family and friends. Kathi's family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations to be made in her honor to the ALS Foundation, Alaska Chapter.

A service will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church on Huffman Road on June 14, 2025, at 11 a.m., with a Celebration of Life at O'Malley's on the Green starting at 2:30 p.m.
