Sean Kendall, 42, of Anchorage Alaska, is believed to have drowned March 6, 2025, on the Susitna River in a tragic accident while working at a remote job site near Point Mackenzie. The family and friends of Sean are grieving the loss of an extraordinary man.
Sean's presence would light up any room. Known for his easygoing nature and sense of humor, he was a friend to many and a constant source of strength and support. His love for the fun in life, infectious energy and positive attitude made life better for everyone around him.
Sean was born in Colorado, but moved to Anchorage as a child, where he graduated from West High School, developing many lifelong friendships during that time. He spent much of this childhood outdoors on his mountain bike racing and exploring Alaska. As an adult, Sean found joy in the outdoors with motorized vehicles - the bigger, shinier and more powerful, the better. It was only natural that he would find his home away from home in the IBEW as a lineman specializing in horizontal drilling throughout Alaska. He was among the best and was valued on any team. Running equipment, working long days, taking pride in a job well done - that was Sean. He will be missed by all those that share his passion for building Alaska.
Sean was blessed with a tight-knit family, deeply loved by his siblings: Paul, Dave, and Stephanie. He had a special relationship with his mother Joann Kendall, and loved to make her laugh. The family bond was unbreakable, and their love for each other was immeasurable.
Above all though, Sean's greatest joy was being a dad. He and his wife Gina shared years of adventure, whether it was camping across Alaska, soaking up the sun in Hawaii or simply spending time together in places they loved, and at the heart of it was always their son. Sean had an undeniable love for Koen. Whether exploring new places, enjoying F1 racing or just hanging out together at home, these moments meant everything to him. The bond the two shared was extraordinary.
Sean is survived by his son, Sean Koen Kendall; wife, Gina Kendall; mother, Joann Kendall; two brothers, Paul and Dave Kendall; sister, Stephanie; and nephews, Orion, Salix and Walker Kendall. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Pete Caruso; sisters-in-law, Lindsey Kendall, Becky Kendall and Rachel Farr with husband Brady Farr; as well as brother-in-law, Charlie Scantlebury with wife Lauren Scantlebury. In addition, he is survived by many loving cousins, aunts and uncles. Sean was preceded in death by his father, Paul Kendall.
Sean will be fondly remembered for his kindness, gap-toothed smile, sense of humor and unwavering love for his family and friends. His legacy lives on through his son and the countless lives he touched with his hard work, generosity and positivity.
A memorial service to honor Sean's life will be held at O'Malley's on the Green on March 29, 2025, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a trust established for Koen's future. Contributions can be made at GoFundMe.com. search "Koen Kendall."
