It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Zona Gale Devon, a beacon of warmth and joy to all who knew her. Born on June 30, 1934, in Eloy, Ariz., Zona's journey through life was marked by an infectious laugh, boundless curiosity and a heart full of love. She completed her earthly chapter on Apr. 23, 2025, in Anchorage, Alaska, surrounded by family and friends she so cherished, succumbing peacefully due to Severe Vascular Dementia.

Zona's early years were spent in Arizona, Alaska and Washington, but her story took root in the halls of Boisefort High School in Washington, where she graduated. Her family moved to Douglas, AK where she met and later married her soulmate, Bill Devon, with whom she built not just a family but a legacy of love and enterprise. Together, they owned and operated businesses in Anderson and Trapper Creek, Alaska, embodying the very essence of teamwork and resilience. Their partnership was a living lesson in dedication and community service, traits they instilled in their children by example.

The bond Zona shared with her beloved Bill was one of life's great adventures, a journey that took them across continents and through a myriad of experiences. From the plains of Africa to the outback of Australia, from the bustling streets of the Philippines to the historic corners of Europe, and even down the Amazon River, their explorations were as much about discovering the world as they were about discovering each other anew.

Family was the cornerstone of Zona's existence. She is survived by a lineage that speaks volumes of her nurturing spirit: her children and their spouses, Kurt (Suzanne) Devon, Janeece(Charles) Higgins, Ron (Franziska) Devon, and Samuel Devon. She was also the proud grandmother to Kurtis (Heather) Devon, Brady (Alyssa) Devon, Kelly (Caitlin) Devon, Joseph (Chelsea) Higgins, Benjamin (Loren) Higgins, Rory (Brooke) Devon, Alexandra Devon, Lucas Devon, Ashley (Jake) Huntley, Shelby Devon, Chelsy Devon, and Mariah Jade Devon. Her great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Harper, and Kalder Devon, Nellie and Cora Devon, Dakota, Cameron, and Kellin Devon, Penelope, William, Max, and Wyatt Higgins, Roman and Nadia Marcott, Locklyn and Leila Devon, will carry her legacy forward. Zona now reunites with her late husband, Bill Devon, and grandson, Byron Devon, among others who preceded her in death.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Alzheimer's Resource of Alaska in Zona's name.

A Celebration of Life and potluck will be held in Anchorage on June 7, 2025, from 5-7 p.m, at AUUF, 2824 E 18th Avenue, Anchorage AK 99508.
