There is a peace and a void in our lives. Mikayla, may your body and mind be able to rest now.

It's not the seizures, mood swings, medications, medical appointments and procedures that we'll miss. It's her laughter, stop hugs, bright eyes and happy feet. She was stubborn, mischievous and had an independent attitude her whole life. She did what she wanted to do and it was very difficult to get her to do something she didn't want to do. With all her mental and physical challenges, we always tried to live each day to the fullest, all the way to the end. When she felt her best there was nothing we wouldn't try. She traveled to Maui, bowled with Special Olympics through school, skied down Mt. Alyeska with Challenge Alaska, enjoyed going to The Alaska Zoo, Museum, Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, Alaska Sealife Center, movies, bowling and so much more. Mikayla did not like staying at home. Every day we went on adventures. Her favorite thing for many years was hiking in the outdoors. Sun, rain, snow or wind, she didn't care. We hiked handicap friendly trails from Homer, Seward, Denali National Park, Chugach National Park and Tok. In the winter we had skis to attach to her stroller wheels. As her health started to decline our hiking adventures eventually reduced to only going to the Potter Marsh Boardwalk. Her dad and I were motivated to make it accessible for her year-round so we started off trying to shovel the boardwalk in the winter. Finally conceding to the huge task it turned out to be we reached out the Alaska Department of Fish and Game to get permission to snow blow the boardwalk. We were able to do it for 2 winters before her health declined further requiring us to stop to focus on her care. During all her adventures we had the opportunity to meet the most amazing people. Strangers were always pulled to her. Whether to give us words of encouragement or small gifts they thought she would enjoy. Each one has been treasured. The last years of her life Mikayla mainly enjoyed going for drives. Constantly requesting to "go" and McDonald's, her favorite place to eat. Even four days before she died, she requested "go". She was still able to do her "happy feet" in the car. She fought hard and lived her life to fullest all the way to the end. She took her last breath with her mom by her side.

We have had so many people bless and support us. Family, friends, doctors, nurses, teachers and strangers. I wish I could name everyone.

Mikayla joined in heaven her grandfather that she loved dearly Lucien Laflamme, her cousin Eric Laflamme and her aunt Debbie Laflamme.

She is survived by her mom Denise Laflamme-Sullivan; best dad ever Patrick Sullivan; sister Lily; brothers Dominic, Luke and Riley. She is also survived by her grandmothers Mimi Laflamme and Terry Sullivan. Her uncle Mike, aunt Angela and cousins Haydin and Ryan Laflamme

We will be having a celebration of life June 8, 2025, at her home 3314 Dickson Rd. ,Anchorage, AK at 2 p.m. All those that have been touched by her life are welcome.
