Feb 6, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rhone Jamal Baumgartner, a devoted Baha'i, beloved son, brother, uncle and friend. Rhone passed away on Feb. 6, 2025, at the age of 46, leaving a profound legacy of love, service and devotion to his faith, family and community.

Rhone was deeply committed to the Baha'i teachings, and his life reflected the principles of service, equality and spiritual growth. He dedicated himself to uplifting and serving others throughout his life. He was especially passionate about working with youth, including his treasured nieces and nephews. His tireless service, particularly while working with his father and brother in the family business to bring reliable electricity to Alaska villages along the Kuskokwim River, and his work with the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium in the past two years, were a testament to his dedication to helping people in rural Alaska.

Preceded in death by his father, Ernie Baumgartner; and his sister, Tamara Ruerup, Rhone leaves behind his loving mother, Natalie Baumgartner; brothers, Gary and TR Baumgartner; sisters, Shelly Miller, Shana Sommer and Jennifer Baumgartner; daughter of his heart, Noemi Balderrama; and many cherished nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins who were blessed to share in his life.

Rhone had a deep connection to nature and the outdoors and valued the time he spent at the family's property, Ravenwood. Whether flying his plane, riding his bike, skiing down snowy slopes, hiking rugged landscapes, boating in Alaska and the Caribbean, or free diving in crystal-clear oceans, he reveled in the beauty of the world around him. His love for adventure and exploration was matched only by his sense of peace when surrounded by the wonders of the natural world.

Above all, Rhone will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering faith and the joy he brought to those who were fortunate enough to know him. He lived a life of purpose, always putting others before himself and sharing his many gifts freely and lovingly.

A celebration of life was held on Feb. 16, 2025, at the Aviation Museum in Anchorage, Alaska, where friends and family gathered to celebrate his life and the many ways he touched those around him. A burial will be held in June 2025, at Angelus Memorial Park Cemetery in Anchorage.

May his spirit continue to inspire and guide all who knew him.
