Peter Bruce Adams, beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, physician and friend, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025.

A lifelong Alaskan, Peter was born on Apr. 26, 1961, in Anchorage. A graduate of Dimond High School, Peter also attended UAA, earning his Bachelor of Science in biology, while playing basketball for the Seawolves. Peter went to medical school through the University of Washington's WWAMI program. He received his M.D. in 1990, and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. He was married to Shaunna (Clyne) Adams from 1990 to 2014, and they shared three children: Taylor, Luke and Alexander Adams.

Peter returned to Anchorage in 1994, and practiced as an OB-GYN until his retirement in 2022. Dr. Adams was the first Alaskan-born physician to become Chief of Staff of Providence Alaska Medical Center, and was one of the founders of Denali OB-GYN, Alaska's premier women's health care provider. During his long career in Anchorage, Dr. Adams served as an instructor for the WWAMI program and was a mentor to many other young doctors. Peter was an avid floatplane pilot, who loved to spend as much time as he could at his Butterfly Lake Homestead near Willow.

Peter is survived by his children, Taylor Adams Woodard (Stephen), Luke Adams (Sierra Foltz) and Alexander Adams; grandson, Wesley Woodard; sister, Mary Adams; longtime partner, Mary Eby; many nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel; and sister, Susan. His ashes will be taken to the family cemetery on Butterfly Lake, where he will be buried next to his family.

A memorial service will be held in honor of Dr. Peter Adams at 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2025, in the Odom Hangar of the Alaska Aviation Museum, 4721 Aircraft Drive in Anchorage.
