Sidney was born in Kanakanak, Alaska, to Frank Grant Woods Sr. and Irene Osterhaus, and adopted by Henry and Mary Smith, who raised him in Dillingham, Alaska. In 2003, he married Sarah Smith, forming a loving blended family. Sidney devoted his life to community and board service and cherished his subsistence traditions. He was known for his wit, wisdom and love of pinochle and basketball.
He was preceded in death by parents, Frank, Irene, Henry and Mary; sisters, Fran Shugak and Hattie Dull; brother, Eddie Woods; and sons, Darrell Woods and Justin Smith.
He is survived by children: Frank, Darren with wife Sharon, Zena with partner Enrique, Sidney with partner April, Ken, Dawn, Thad, Rose and Terra Peppinger. Grandchildren include: Jessie with children Mark, Ari and Romi, Shelley with husband Nigel, Frank IV with wife Tobitha and children Miri, Marilyn, Gemma and Jovie, Darryl with wife Kristina and daughters Hermoine and Ariel, Cade, Preston, Arriana, Elayne, Coral, Ryder, Aubrey, Dana, Cassidy with husband Eli and children Darren and Ella, Ashley, Anastasia with partner Chris and children Lennea, David, Victoria and Jevon, Chris with children Victoria, Brooke and Gerald, Darren, Devin, Darrel with children Ashlane, Ashton and Melania, Philip with children Dagan and Vassilie, Sasha Jurasek, Holly Aukongak, Tammi Dias, Shadde Lamay, Quinna Lamay, Joshua Garcia and Zada Morning.
Sidney's legacy of love, tradition and strength lives on through them all.
