Jun 9, 2025
Nancy Harbour, retired President of the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts (ACPA), and beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully in Sedona, Ariz., on June 9, 2025, after a courageous five-year battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Nancy was born in Prosser, Wash., the day after Christmas in 1950. A 45-year Alaskan, she began her career as an Arts Administrator at Anchorage Community College, now University of Alaska Anchorage, and then as Executive Director of Arts Alaska before joining ACPA.
Recipient of many community awards, Nancy was a dedicated volunteer supporting Rotary, the Mayor's Charity Ball, ACPA "user groups," the Anchorage Downtown Partnership, the Anchorage Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Alaska State Council on the Arts, The Atwood Foundation and her churches, "Parkside" and "Faith Community."
In addition to her passion for the arts, she enjoyed adventurous international travel, fishing, quilting, gourmet cooking, Chihuly blown glass, Alaska Native cultures, Saturday market, afternoon walks around Baxter Bog and Broadway musicals, particularly her favorite, Les Miserables.
Nancy went to heaven while in the arms of her husband. Her loss on this earth is mourned by her loving family, including her husband of 40 years, Dave; their son, Billy; and stepsons, Ben and Todd Harbour. She is preceded in death by her brother, Bren Davison; father, Gerald (Jerry) Davison; and mother, Caroline (Kit) Davison. She is survived by her brother Greg Davison and sister-in-law Debra Davison of Kirkland, Wash.
For her friends and colleagues, the family will be hosting a "Celebration of Nancy Harbour's Life" on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2025, beginning at 1:30 p.m., in the Voth Theater of her beloved ACPA.
Guests may wish to begin the celebration at 1 p.m. with a half-century of audio/visual memories featuring Nancy, her coworkers, friends and family over her nearly a half-century of service in the 49th state, which she dearly loved.
