Margaret David died in her home in Anchorage, Alaska. Margaret was born in Kodiak Island, Alaska, to John and Marion Trent and was the youngest of four siblings. The family moved to Anchorage in 1960. Margaret had a love of music and graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in 1979, with a bachelors of music education. That same year she started teacher orchestra at six elementary schools in Anchorage. She was an accomplished violist and played for the Anchorage Symphony. She was a beloved orchestra teacher at East Anchorage High school from 1982 until she retired in 2016. She was deeply committed to her role as a teacher and made a difference to countless students. Margaret also became the Fine Arts Department Chair for the Anchorage School District. In 1990, she married the love of her life, Melvin David, until he died in 2000. Her dog Jill became an important part of her life after her husband passed away and she had many pets after which gave her great joy. She is survived by her brother, Goodwin Trent; stepbrothers, Steve and Frank Waldron; stepsister, Jan Waldron; and many nieces and nephews. Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin David; parents, Marion and John Trent; stepmother, Marcie Trent; stepbrother, Larry Waldron; brother, John Trent; and sister, Connie Rodgers. A Memorial Service will be held on Aug. 11, 2025, at 3 p.m., at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Anchorage.
